The honest bit
Faithful to a stated ruleset
Built as Classic Whist with a trump suit. Four players, a standard 52-card deck dealt 13 each. Each trick, every player plays one card and must follow the suit led if able. A trick containing a trump is won by the highest trump; otherwise by the highest card of the suit led. The trick's winner leads the next. When all 52 cards have been played, whoever took the most tricks wins — tricks only, with no honours and no rubber, with 5 disclosed simplifications — so the rules never change under your feet.
One hand decides it — win the most tricks and you win (a tie is a draw).
Spades are always trump — you know it before the first card is played.
Holding the top spades scores you nothing on its own — win tricks with them.
The same player leads first; after that, whoever wins a trick leads the next.
Four players, each on their own — no teams.
