Crazy Eights

Put 1 card (1 kind) into the discard. Put 51 cards (51 kinds) into the deck. Shuffle the deck. Deal 7 cards from the deck to each player's hand.

Deck: a pile, shared, hidden from everyone (only the count shows). Hand: a spread, each player has their own, visible only to its owner. Discard: a pile, shared, face up for everyone.

Play card — choose a card from your hand; uses your own hand and the discard. • If the declared suit marked on the top card of the discard (or the suit of the top card of the discard if unmarked) matches the suit of the chosen card or the rank of the top card of the discard matches the rank of the chosen card and it is not true that the rank of the chosen card matches 8: move the chosen card from the chosen from zone to the chosen to zone; play passes to the next player. Play wild — in one combined choice: choose a card from your hand; uses your own hand and the discard, and choose one of: Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades • If the rank of the chosen card matches 8: move the chosen card from the chosen from zone to the chosen to zone; mark declared suit on the chosen card as the chosen declared suit; play passes to the next player. Draw — uses the deck and your own hand. • If the deck has any cards: move the top card of the chosen from zone to the chosen to zone; play passes to the next player. • If the deck is empty: shuffle the discard (except its top card) back into the deck; move the top card of the chosen from zone to the chosen to zone; play passes to the next player. A player who empties their hand wins, checked right after their own move.

Discard top suit: the declared suit marked on the top card of the discard (or the suit of the top card of the discard if unmarked). Discard top rank: the rank of the top card of the discard.
